When downloading ebooks with Calibre eReader it stores all of the downloaded books on the C: drive by default. This may pose a problem for students who want access to their ebooks from any workstation in the school. However Calibre allows you to change the location of your ebook library, so you can download ebooks into your home directory. When using Calibre on other workstations, switching to the library in your home directory is fairly simple.
When using Calibre for the first time, you will need to create an empty ebook library in your home directory. You can do this by clicking on the "Calibre Library" button at the top of the window, and then clicking on "Switch/Create Library" in the menu.
A new window will pop up asking you to choose the location of your Calibre Library. Select the second option in the window, which is to create an empty library at a new location. Then click on the file icon at the right of the window to browse to your home directory.
You should be able to find your home folder on the H: drive. In the new window double click "Computer" then double click the H: drive, and you should see a folder called "Students" (if a student) or "Teacher" (if you are a teacher). Double click that folder, and you should see a folder labeled with your name. That is your home directory. Click once on your home directory, and in the right panel it should list all the subfolders in your home directory. Right click in the right panel and create a new folder called "Calibre". This folder will be used to store your ebook library.
Once the new subfolder is created, select that folder in the right panel, and then click the "Select Folder" button.
That's it! Your new library will be created and you can now start downloading ebooks into your home directory. However in the event that you use Calibre on different workstation, you will need to point that workstation to your home folder. You can do this easily by clicking on the "Calibre Library" button at the top of the window, and then clicking the "Switch/Create Library" option in the menu. This time, choose the first option in the list, which tells Calibre to use your existing library at a new location. Then you click on the file icon at the right of the window, and browse to the "Calibre" subfolder in your home folder. Calibre will then load all of the ebooks you have saved on the H: drive.
Enjoy reading all of your ebooks!
