Double-click the icon for Calibre eReader on your desktop. Calibre will automatically install. If it asks you for the type of device that you are using, please select "Generic" to use it on the PC.
After Calibre is installed, it will launch for you. Before you can download ebooks, you will need to select the store that you will use with Calibre. We recommend that you use Project Gutenberg for all of your ebooks in the classroom. Project Gutenberg provides free ebooks from a variety of classic authors.
To select Project Gutenberg as your store, please click the drop-down arrow next to the "Get Books" button, hover your mouse pointer over the "Stores" selection, and then left-click on "Project Gutenberg".
Calibre may display a notification about comparing ebook prices and DRM. Since we will only be using Project Gutenberg as our store, which only provides free ebooks and does not use DRM, we can safely ignore this message. Un-check the box and then click the "OK" button.
Search for the name of your book, or the name of an author, by using the search bar at the top of the screen.
When you have found the ebook that you want, left click on it to download it.
You will be provided with a number of different formats for your ebook. Please click on the link for the EPUB format, since Calibre can read that format. Once the ebook has been downloaded, you may close the download screen.
Your ebook should be displayed in a list on Calibre. Double-click the ebook in the list to read your ebook.
Once you have opened your ebook, you can flip through it's pages by click on the forward and back buttons on the left side of the screen. Or you may use the mouse-wheel.
That's it! Enjoy reading all of your ebooks!
