ALBION CENTRAL SCHOOL
VETERANS HISTORY PROJECT
DAVID GEORGE NEWMAN
Mr. Newman kept in touch with his family back in the United States by writing letters when he could.
Put yourself in Mr. Newman's shoes and pretend you've been sent overseas to serve in World War II. Using Mr. Newman's story and the stories of other veterans from the Albion Central School Veterans History Project, write a letter home to your family and/or friends describing some of your experiences during the war.
Remember to include information about your daily life and everyday experiences, since being in the war was about more than just fighting (see the other veterans' biographies for more ideas).
Try to make your letter vivid and exciting by using colorful vocabulary to describe the details of your experiences.
